My radio background started in the late late 1970's and early 1980's when I discovered stations like Radio Mi Amigo, Radio Caroline and Laser. I dreamed of being a dj and playing lots of music.

When I was given a record player and a tape recorder it wasn't long until I hooked the two together and started to record “radio shows”.

My first actual radio broadcast was on a tiny pirate station that could barely be heard outside the radius of 200 metres. The station was called Radio Idefix in the town of Hoofddorp in the Netherlands. The studio had 2 record players, a tape deck, a microphone, and a small 6 channel mixer. From that first broadcast I was hooked.

I became involved with a wide range of pirate stations in the Netherlands, and gained a lot of on-air experience as well as the fear of being caught and taken off air. This led me to join a newly formed local station in the town where I lived. The station was called VLOH and I became part of the team as a presenter and tech-op.

When I moved to The Hague I joined Lokatel Radio as a presenter, tech-op, and cover presenter for the breakfast show.

In 1988 I moved to the UK and after a period of not doing any radio I joined Lions Radio at the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds.

I was also part of Ipswich Community Radio before moving to internet radio in 2003. I loved doing internet radio as it gave me the freedom to do and play what I wanted. It reminded me of how things were when I was doing pirate radio.
